The St. George’s University is a medical, veterinary and undergraduate university located on the Caribbean island of Grenada. Established in 1976, the university is the home to students and faculty from over 140 countries. Recognizing the diversity of needs of all students, the Department of Educational Services (DES), which serves as the student support hub for the university has created a collaborative support model. This model is centered on producing self-regulated learners, while simultaneously promoting a growth mindset.

In order to operationalize this goal, DES has structured several specific but inter-related units.

  1. Learning Strategist
  2. Specialized English Language Unit
  3. Faculty Development Unit
  4. Student Support Administrative Office

Additionally, the department collaborates with other institutional entities such as Psychological Services to offer student support services aimed at promoting student well-being.  This presentation will describe the structure of DES at the St. George’s University and explain how this structure coupled with inter-institutional collaboration works synergistically to achieve a collaborative model for student support.
