Enhancing student experience through social media

Social media is of paramount importance to students – it’s their communication tool, source of information and means to network. These days, no-one is without a phone in their hands!

This workshop focuses on international students, the social media platforms they use and how institutions can use these platforms to enhance the student experience.

The session will cover:

  1. Popular western and Chinese social media channels used by international students
  2. Top tips to engage with international students
  3. How to overcome the challenges of social media
  4. Activities to put your knowledge into practice

Facilitators:

Jinger Pan is a Business Manager, International Marketing at StudyAdelaide, a semi-government marketing agency promoting Adelaide as the premier study destination for international students.  Jinger manages marketing activities in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan including Chinese social media marketing on platforms such as Weibo and WeChat. She has created and managed many campaigns, the most successful being the “The Amazing Student Ambassador” campaign that has run annually in various formats since 2015 and continues to shine in the market.

 

 

Yashinni Mathiahlagan is the Business Manager, International Marketing, responsible for digital marketing management and the Malaysian market at StudyAdelaide.  An international student herself, Yashinni has a B.A. (Communication and Media Management) from the University of South Australia. Since graduating, she’s put her life and study experiences to good use and has been integral to the growth of StudyAdelaide’s western social media channels – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and the success of several international digital marketing campaigns.
